Set up your account: the 6-step checklist

What each step on the dashboard checklist does, which ones are required, and the settings pages behind them.

In this guide
  1. 1. Confirm your timezone (required)
  2. 2. Create your first excursion (required)
  3. 3. Customize your website
  4. 4. Set up payments (required)
  5. 5. Configure email sending
  6. 6. Connect your domain
  7. Other settings you will need

When you first log in, the dashboard shows a Setup Progress card with six steps. Three are required before you can take a booking; the other three are optional. Each step ticks itself off once Goiaba detects it is done, so there is nothing to mark manually.

1. Confirm your timezone (required)

Go to Settings › General Settings (/admin/settings/general) and pick your Timezone. Booking cut-offs, departure lists, reminders and reports all run on this clock, which is why it comes first. The same page holds your Site Name, Default Language and any Additional Translation Languages you want to offer on your website.

2. Create your first excursion (required)

Click Open on the step, or go to Excursions and click Create Excursion. The step completes as soon as one tour exists, even as a draft. Follow How to create your first tour.

3. Customize your website

Your website is already live at yourname.goiaba.net with a starter homepage. Website › Website Builder is where you change the theme, logo and homepage blocks. See How to build and publish your website.

4. Set up payments (required)

Go to Settings › Payment Settings and click Connect with Stripe. Until a gateway is active, customers cannot pay online. See How to connect Stripe.

5. Configure email sending

Booking confirmations work out of the box: they are sent through Goiaba's mail server with your company name as the sender. Open Settings › Email Settings and switch to the Email SMTP Settings tab (/admin/settings/email-settings) to:

  • set the From Name and Reply To address customers will see;
  • optionally use your own mail server: choose your Email SMTP Provider, fill in SMTP Host, SMTP Port, Encryption, SMTP Username and SMTP Password, then click Send test email to check it;
  • turn on the automatic Tour reminder (hours before departure) and Abandoned checkout follow-up emails.

The first tab on that page lists the email templates themselves, where you can edit the wording of each message.

6. Connect your domain

Optional. If you own a domain such as www.yourtours.com, Website › Domain lets you point it at your Goiaba site. See How to connect your own domain.

Other settings you will need

  • Settings › Company: name, address, phone, email, logo and social links. These appear on your website footer and on booking vouchers.
  • Settings › Currency Settings (/admin/settings/currency): your Base Currency. It applies to the whole account, and every tour is priced in it.
  • Settings › User Management (/admin/settings/users): click Add User to invite team members by email. The number of seats depends on your plan.
  • Settings › Account Info: your own name, email and password.
