How to create your first tour
From the Create Excursion wizard to a live tour on your website, and why a new tour starts as a draft.
A tour in Goiaba is called an excursion. Creating one takes three stages: a short wizard, the main form, and the editor tabs where you add options, prices and dates. A new excursion always starts as a Draft, hidden from your website, until it has everything a customer needs to book.
Start the wizard
- Go to Excursions (
/admin/excursions) and click Create Excursion. - Choose the Duration Type: Single-Day or Multi-Day.
- Choose the Availability Mode: Date + Time if the tour departs at set times (customers pick a session), or Date Only if a date is enough.
- Pick an Experience Category and click Continue.
Fill in the basics
The Create New Excursion form has three sections:
- Basic Information: title, destination, experience type and category. The Currency is your account's base currency and the Status box shows Draft; both are read-only here.
- Booking Cut-Off Time: how many hours before the start bookings close. The default is 24. It applies to the whole tour.
- Cancellation Policy: Non-refundable, or a Custom Policy with one rule per deadline (for example no fee until 48 hours before, then a 50% fee). Click Add Rule for each line.
Click Create Excursion. You land back on the list with the new tour marked Draft.
Work through the editor tabs
Open the tour to reach the excursion editor. The left sidebar lists the tabs and a completion bar:
- Basic Details: what you just entered, plus the status switch.
- Options: the bookable variants with their prices and session times. A tour needs at least one.
- Availability: the calendar of open dates and capacity. A tour needs at least one open future date.
- Pricing Overview: seasonal price overrides per date.
- Content: description, highlights, inclusions, exclusions and Know before you go.
- Translations: the same content in each extra language you enabled in General Settings.
- Media Gallery: photos, shown on the tour page in the order you sort them.
- Itinerary, Extras (paid add-ons) and Pickups (pickup places).
Options, availability and pricing are covered step by step in How to set prices, schedules and availability.
Take it live
Goiaba only lets a tour go live when a customer could actually book it. On Basic Details the banner tells you what is missing; once it reads "Everything is set up", change Status to Active (live on website) and save.
If you try earlier you get: "This tour cannot go live yet: add an option with a price and open dates in the availability calendar first." Add the missing piece and save again.
In the Excursions list, the status column shows Draft, Draft · ready (everything in place, just flip the status) or Live. Your plan sets how many tours can be live at the same time; a draft never counts.
